Spiritual Reflection

I can’t remember who told me this but I do remember what he said.  “Try to answer the Who, What, Where, When and Why questions and everything will be just fine.”  For the most part, that is such great advice until I get to the WHY question.

The picture I chose for the reflection is a stone marker in Washington, DC with the words of President Harry Truman.  So many lives lost in war and we continue to lose our brothers and sisters because of useless reasons and hatred.  Couple that with so much sickness, disease and loss of life, I continue to ask WHY?  The great Reverend Robert Schuller told us in a workshop at the Crystal Cathedral in California that God will never answer the WHY question.  His son asked it on the cross, “Why have You abandoned me” and never got an answer.  Schuller told us that God will never enter into a debate with His children.  If he did, I suspect we would continue to ask another WHY when the answer was not favorable.  It’s okay to ask the why question as long as we know God isn’t going to answer.  We must TRUST and this is difficult but with prayer we can somehow survive.
