Fr. Dick’s Spiritual Reflection -11/06/2024
“Love all, hate none”.
I chose the picture of a famous cemetery because it reminded me of a funeral that Fr. Bob and I attended a couple of months ago.
Sean lost his battle and was called home.
On the program for the funeral was printed a letter that Sean wrote to his friends and family.
FAREWELL FOR NOW.
My dear friends and family,
I have been so fortunate and blessed in my lifetime. I hit the jackpot in both friendship and family, and cherished every single memory we made together; from the smallest moments hanging out to the adventures of a lifetime traveling with you.
Each time we were together was a gift I kept close to my heart. I have always considered myself blessed because of all of you. Thank you for loving me, for standing by my side, and for giving me the gift of your friendships. We are forever connected.
Thank you for your patience, unending kindness and support, especially during these challenging times. I know what it means to be loved because of you. I was continuously overwhelmed by this, especially during these past few weeks. If you are reading this, I love you too. I held on to this life with a white-knuckled dying grip holding tight to your voices, songs, and stories; and left when I was truly ready for the next life, filled with pure love and gratitude. Know this, I had the time of my life with you.
His final letter to family and friends speaks of what is really important in life.
Driving home yesterday I saw a semi-truck with this painted all over the trailer:
“Love all, hate none”.
I thanked God for another evangelist on the road. Thank you for all the times you evangelized this same message.
