Fr. Dick’s Spiritual Reflection–11/23/2022
We have so much to be thankful for….
Thanksgiving is such a wonderful day.
I know that we are trying to put together faith, family and football.
However, what makes it so special is that we are reminded and encouraged to spend time in prayer thanking God for all the blessings in our lives. And we have so many.
The picture shown above this reflection is a famous statue of St. Vincent de Paul in Paris, France. It highlights his love for children as those in most need of love. At the same time it gives Bob and me a reminder to thank God that Vincent founded our Community to preach parish missions. We have been doing this for forty years and it has always been a joy and a religious experience for both Bob and me, and for the hundreds of thousands of people who have attended these parish missions.
The first Vincentian parish mission in the United States was preached by Fr. Joseph Rosati, cm in Vincennes, Indiana. The year was 1817. Fr. Rosati later became bishop of St.
Louis. These parish missions have been preached ever since.
Now that is a great blessing! We do have so much to be thankful for.
