It is nice to reflect on the end of winter and the beginning of spring. It seems that spring is a time for great hope and that is what Pope Francis has asked us to reflect upon during this Jubilee Year. Hope is one of the three theological virtues: Faith, Hope and Charity. Even though St. Paul says that in the end only three things last, faith, hope and charity and the greatest of these is charity, we know they are all connected. Faith is at the heart; hope follows and then we are moved to charity.
Hope-filled people give hope to others and when trees start to bud, flowers begin growing and the vegetable gardens are promising great rewards, we are reminded that we can be those signs of hope for others just as Jesus did for us. Sometimes it is just as a simple greeting or a small act of charity that lightens up someone’s day and they conclude that God is alive.
I HOPE that you are one of these hope-filled people and know that you are truly one of God’s great messengers.
